Project Description

What was once a simple covered area can become an opportunity to reimagine how a backyard is used, especially when positioned alongside a pool. This project showcases how thoughtful design can transform a basic structure into a refined, functional outdoor retreat.

The original patio provided shelter but lacked the presence and cohesion needed to complement the home and surrounding pool area. By removing the existing house eave and redesigning the connection point, the new structure integrates seamlessly with the home, allowing the patio to feel like a true extension of the living space.

The result is a custom-built Skillion style patio, designed to maximise both coverage and openness. A Colorbond roof with integrated flashing, gutters and concealed box valley gutters ensures effective stormwater management while maintaining a clean architectural finish. Velux skylights introduce natural light into the space, brightening the patio and creating an inviting connection between the outdoors and the covered entertaining area.

The completed space now feels light, modern and purposeful — a seamless poolside alfresco designed for entertaining, relaxing and enjoying outdoor living year round.
